Night Sky Therapy specializes in helping clients find their way in the world by collaborating to gain an understanding of healthy sexuality, to gain tools and increase understanding of compulsive behavior(s), and move closer to their values in order to move closer to their most plentiful life all within a decolonization/feminist lens. This practice strives to make this a sex-positive, trauma-informed, kink-affirming, safe place for LGBTQIA2+, ‘alternative’ relationships, and marginalized communities. I do this by taking a ‘systems’ approach (see below) when conceptualizing. I also use the PLISST (Permission, Limited Information, Specific Suggestions, and Intensive Therapy) model of sex therapy.


Healthy Sexuality
Does your sexual behavior improve your life or leave you feeling isolated, alone and judged? Do the values or messaging you hold around sex, intimacy, and connection help in togetherness with others or do they push others away? Explore these themes in a non-judgmental, open space.
Addiction & Recovery
Out of control behavior and addiction/recovery look different for everyone and with trusted, open support along the way, finding the tools to make it less daunting are available.
Although I address this in my FAQ, I want to highlight that AASECT does not recognize ‘sex/porn addiction’ due to it’s potentially stigmatizing label and a lack of sufficient evidence. I DO NOT work in the vein of a sex addiction model due to the lack of accuracy in healthy sexual development in these particular models which are usually rooted in fundamental heteronormativity if you dig deep enough. With that said, problematic, compulsive behavior can absolutely be an issue.


Trauma & Recovery
Recovering from trauma can seem like an impossible task but there are effective interventions that combat both long and short-term effects of trauma. Taking the step to look for a provider that you can trust to walk with you in this journey is a huge stride.
Postpartum & Parenting Stress
Such a huge shift in life circumstances will have an impact on anyone, especially paired with sleep deprivation, well-meaning family members, and the barrage of what healthy parenting is ‘supposed’ to look like. Counseling will provide you with 50 minutes that is yours alone to work on how to effectively navigate such a massive life change.
